I’ve been waiting for the appropriate time to post more of my pictures from Nashville filming locations in Nashville, and I figured what better time to do that than the night before Nashville’s 2-hour season 5 premiere on CMT?
Return to The Gulch
This trip to Nashville took me back to The Gulch, the area I talked about in my first Scenes from the City post. Though not a filming location for Nashville I would be remiss if I didn’t mention a place called The Pub. My brother told me about this restaurant and it did not disappoint. On this particular visit I ate outside on the patio, though the seats around the outdoor fire pit were all taken – go figure. My chicken fajita tacos were yummy though!
Also located in the Gulch is a shop called Two Old Hippies. It was featured on Nashville as a place where Scarlett and Zoey shopped. It was also the site of one of Juliette’s concerts in season 1.
You can enjoy LIVE music while browsing the store; but if you plan on actually purchasing anything you’ll need a bank account more akin to Juliette’s. It would be impossible for a struggling musician to afford this place. A simple blouse will set you back about $300. Needless to say I didn’t buy anything from there, but I did manage to get a few great pictures.
East Nashville
Leaving the Gulch I headed for East Nashville. While probably not the most obvious filming location for Nashville, this area has the distinct honor of being home to various Nashville characters. I didn’t manage to find all of them on this particular day, but I did find the home of Deacon Claybourne.
I have also heard that Deacon’s place is open for people to stay in, like an air bnb. Other notable characters’ homes in East Nashville are those of Scarlett and Gunnar.
East Nashville is also home to a place called Sky Blue Cafe (not to be confused with the Bluebird Cafe). Sky Blue is a small place that I almost missed. It was featured in season 1 of Nashville when Juliette ate there.
As you can see this picture was taken rather quickly. It was beginning to get dark at this point and I still had other places on my list to visit.
Green Hills
Next on that list was the Bluebird Cafe. Though I didn’t go inside (the line was very long and I am pretty sure a reservation would have been needed), I did manage to get a picture of the outside of the building. If you have never been to the Bluebird or have no idea where it is located it is very easy to miss. As you can probably tell from these pictures it is a rather small storefront nestled between other businesses.
While in the parking lot of the Bluebird I noticed a Noshville sign. No that is not a typo. Noshville is a New York style delicatessen that was used in the filming of Nashville during season 3 when Deacon, Maddie, and Daphne ate there. Unfortunately that particular location is now permanently closed, but I was still able to eat at the Green Hills location.
Honestly, I didn’t find Noshville’s food to be that great. It was really more about the atmosphere.
I’m still glad I went there though in case this location ends up closing too.
Catch the 2-hour premiere of Nashville on CMT Thursday, Jan. 5th at 9/8c!
