UPDATE: The Bang Candy Company posted on their social media pages that Nashville was filming outside their store on Wednesday, February 1st 2017. I can’t wait to see what scene(s) were filmed there. When I first visited Marathon Village I remember thinking that it would be a great little place for Nashville to film – and now they have!!!

As I browsed around one of Nashville’s many quaint little shops I overheard a conversation in which the clerk told a local patron “sometimes you have to get out and explore your own backyard.”

That was precisely the reason was in Marathon Village that particular fall day.

If you read my first Scenes from the City post, you know that I have been visiting various places around Music City where the show Nashville has filmed. Marathon Village, a historic area where the Marathon car was made in the 1900s, presented a slight departure from my filming location scavenger hunt.

I first heard about Marathon Village when one of its shops was featured on a local Nashville show. The Bang Candy Company, as it is called, is one of the most unique shops I have ever seen. Its quirky, colorful decor perfectly complements Marathon’s bohemian vibe and the artistry of neighboring shops.

The Bang Candy Company is not your typical candy store. Their sweet confections are made right in the shop and their signature item is the marshmallow. Now for those who know me you are probably aware that I don’t have much of a sweet tooth and rarely ever partake in junk food of any kind; but I have to tell you that if you have never tried a homemade marshmallow you have never had a marshmallow.

Though The Bang Candy Company has many unusual marshmallow flavors like Chocolate Chili or Maple Bacon Bourbon, they also have more traditional flavors. The day I visited I tried a chocolate covered marshmallow – delicious!! I also purchased a small loaf of iced pumpkin bread which was also very good and a possible alternative for anyone who doesn’t really eat candy.

As for the marshmallows, I have been inspired to try making my own. Though I am still working on perfecting my recipe, I have found them to be a lot of fun to create. However, it takes patience, so if you’re looking for a quick marshmallowy fix you might want to consider visiting The Bang Candy Company before attempting to make your own.
